Apache Junction · a care question guide

Is this medicine actually approved?

Ask for the exact product name. The label names what you would receive; the advert says what is offered. Ask for the FDA record showing approval of that exact product for the stated use.

Approval belongs to the product

Medicine review is handled by a federal agency called the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Keep the product and its intended use together when reading an approval claim.

  • As of September 26, 2026, semaglutide products include Ozempic for type 2 diabetes and Wegovy for weight loss, among their approved uses. FDA: Wegovy product label
  • Among the approved uses of tirzepatide products are treatment of type 2 diabetes with Mounjaro and weight loss with Zepbound, as of September 26, 2026. FDA: Mounjaro product label
  • No generic form of semaglutide or tirzepatide has US approval allowing it to be sold, as of September 26, 2026. FDA: approval application records

Generic means a non-brand version of a medicine. The approved uses differ by product and whether it is a pill or injection; ask which label applies.

A well-known name can still lack approval

As of September 26, 2026, the FDA's approval records have no approved US product for BPC-157, ipamorelin or retatrutide. FDA: approval records

As of September 26, 2026, the FDA states that federal law does not allow retatrutide or cagrilintide in compounding. FDA: retatrutide and cagrilintide

These are two checks: whether a finished medicine has approval, and whether an ingredient may be used in a custom medicine. Ask about both for the exact name on your offer.

  • What approved product is the claim referring to?
  • Is the claim about this medicine or about a different product?

A code does not prove approval

The government uses a number called a National Drug Code (NDC) to identify a product in its list.

An NDC number does not establish FDA approval for a product, according to the FDA's position as of September 26, 2026. FDA: National Drug Code limits

A listing identifies the product. Ask to see the FDA approval record as well.

  • Can the service point to the actual approval?
  • Does that record match the product I would receive?

A committee headline is not a rule change

If an offer cites news of the FDA's July meeting about peptide ingredients, ask what legal change the seller is claiming.

The recorded September 26, 2026 source check found no FDA written summary, word-for-word account or official vote record for that meeting. FDA: committee meeting materials

The committee gives the FDA advice; a vote by itself does not change the law on custom medicines, as of September 26, 2026. FDA: how the ingredient list changes

A final rule is the FDA's completed change to a regulation. Ask for its official page and the date it takes effect.

  • Please show me the FDA rule that allows this ingredient, and where it says the change is in force.
